Cheap, flimsy, waste of money, March 20, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: The Mead Convertible Wood Futon Chair, Medium Oak (Kitchen) I purchased the Mead Convertible Wood Futon frame for a nice Sealy futon mattress that I had from a while ago. I was looking for a frame that was wood for strength, as those 99 dollar specials the big box stores have always bend and break over time. I was looking to use this futon as a sitting area and spare bed to be located in my office. Financial difficulties forced this futon into active duty as our primary living room furniture piece.
After using the piece for about two weeks, one of the rivets which holds the swing arm for the spring to the metal bracket, snapped on me while folding from bed to couch. Aggravated, I tore the piece apart (for the 3rd time since the instructions which came with it were so terrible) and drilled out the suspect rivet. After inspecting the other side, I noticed THAT rivet was doing the same thing. After further disassembly and much grunting and cussing, I took the pieces to my local tractor supply store and purchased a couple of 3/8's... Read more
